Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
