Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world may be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
