Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players around the world. While playing web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
