Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest players in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
