NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
