Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest players in the world. While gambling on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes Omaha and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player.
