NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
