Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While wagering on web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
