Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English ]

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
