NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he loved betting on various card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting really aggressive in these particular card games as he was competing against his father. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a little while and headed to New York to compete in some formidable chess. While competing in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were tough as he would play countless hours and lose a majority of the time. He earned some additional money by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he possibly could better his game by analyzing his life away from poker. He made an attempt to get more sleep and focus even more on the game.

The real advancement in his skills happened when he started wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best players would frequently challenge each other. Howard was able to access some of the best minds in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would sharpen his logical thinking skills. Howard used these strategic concepts in the game of NL Texas Holdem.

He also helped his sibling Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper decision. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the strongest women players the poker arena ever. Howard moved to Sin City in 1993 and participated in cash games for the next decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
