Focus Attention on Annie Duke

Annie Duke may not have won her first WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she is one of the most feared poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in vegas. Annie’s longawaited World Series of Poker bracelet came with success at the "buried game" of Omaha hi lo.

While players from the "younger generation" of poker go wild following a huge win at the tables, Annie heads back home and becomes "mom" to her four children. She was born in New Hampshire into a family of card players. If you do not believe that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to wager on the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has captured her share of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard a few times along the way. They are both players that have the ability to capture the huge bucks and do so with a smile.

Annie is a strong competitor at any table because she is a true poker player, but it is a little more than simply being good at the game. Annie is incredibly smart and graduated from Columbia U where she majored in English and Psychology.

When you sit across from Annie at the table you’ll see Annie Duke is there to play the game and she begins "sizing" you up from the time you join the poker table. If you can’t wager like a camp, then don’t waste your time.

Winning over three million dollars in tournament play, Annie Duke branched out to become a consultant to both the UltimateBet poker room and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to sharpen his techniques and develop into a power at the poker table.

You may catch a glimpse of her at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on TV and you may even compete against her in a web-based poker game, but don’t count on an easy win. Unless you are a camp-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. Although, it would be exciting to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
